Remember that last week, the Federal Government promised a N5 billion palliative for each of the federation’s states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to soften the consequences of the termination of the gasoline subsidy.
When addressing with media on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state’s capital, Kolapo Alimi, the state’s commissioner for information, asserted that the state government had not received the N5 billion naira payment.
Alimi asserts that after the state government receives the monies, Ademola Adeleke, the state’s governor, will be forthright and honest about it and address the state on the subject.
The commissioner stated that the federal government had provided the state with 3,000 bags of 50kg of rice, and that the state had formed a committee to distribute food aid.
Alimi said that 3,000 metric tonnes of maize and 14,320 extra bags of rice were still anticipated. Additionally, he said that as soon as the state acquired the remaining bags of rice, the state will start distributing the food items.
