He made a substantial contribution to the development of the country’s financial industry.

After finishing his accounting studies at the University of London, the illustrious accountant received his chartered accountant designation in 1947.

After returning to Nigeria in 1952, he founded his accounting firm, Akintola Williams & Co., which is now a part of Deloitte & Touche.

Williams was a staunch advocate for the expansion of Nigeria’s accounting sector.

He was a founder member and held the position of president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) from 1963 to 1965. He was a member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors among it’s members.

Numerous awards and recognitions, including the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM), were given to Williams. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales recognized him as a Fellow.
