Why Corps Members Are Yet To Receive June Allowance – NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps claimed that the banks are to blame for the delay in paying the June allowance to corps members and stated that all preparations for the payment have been made since June 27.

In response to complaints about the delay, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, released a statement on Sunday assuring that the corps management is coordinating with the banks to expedite payment.

‘The Management of National Youth Service Corps wishes to state that it is aware of worries and agitations bycorps members over the delay in the payment of their monthly allowance for June 2023,’ he stated. For the avoidance of confusion, all arrangements for the payment of corps members’ stipend starting on June 27, 2023, were finalized by the scheme, and payments in accordance with those arrangements were made to various banks on the same day.

As a result of the fact that different banks handling the administration of the funds have not yet credited the accounts of the Corps Members, there is now a delay.

To expedite the payment of corps members’ June allowance without further delay, the NYSC management is assiduously contacting the banks.

“Remain calm, law-abiding, and diligent in their respective places of national service as the scheme will continue to treat issues relating to their welfare with utmost priority,” he urged the corp members.
