The watermarks on the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the 2023 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgement that are being shared on social media have a purpose, according to the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team (TPLT).
Bendelnews claims that there were rumors that the watermarks used by the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team might have tainted the tribunal verdict in favor of President Bola Tinubu.
The coordinator of the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team, Babatunde Ogala (SAN), denied these claims in a statement on Saturday.
He claims that there was no corruption of the judgement and that the team merely applied watermarks after obtaining their own copies of the joint verdict from the Court of appeal.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attorneys were present when they picked up the clean copies of the tribunal judgement from the court registry, according to Ogala, and they were even the first to get copies of the ruling from the court register.
Because the clean copies weren’t watermarked with the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team seal until after they had been gathered, the attorney argued those who are suggesting a compromise are just playing practical jokes.
He stated that it was necessary to provide this clarification “following some malicious insinuations being made in some quarters regarding the innocent water-mark of copies of the consolidated judgment of the Court of Appeal with the inscription -“Tinubu Presidential Legal Team ‘TPLT'”.
“The Court directed its registry to make physical copies of the rulings available on September 7, 2023, following the Court of Appeal’s delivery of its decision in the three (three) election petitions on September 6, 2023.
“Therefore, the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team applied for and paid for a certified true copy of the aforementioned ruling.
In actuality, the PDP delegate took possession of the first copy that the register made accessible.
As soon as we received our own copy, we scanned it and promptly added the watermark “Tinubu Presidential Legal Team ‘TPLT'” before sending the scanned soft copies to the attorneys on our team.
“The claimed inscription is not present on the certified true copies provided by the registration to us and other parties in the petitions, and any suggestion to the contrary is false.
Counsel for the petitioners will also be grateful for the fact that the rumors spreading in some circles are false, cruel, unfair, and regrettable because they also have certified copies of the verdict.
