Today, March 29, 2024, we celebrate the 72nd birthday of His Excellency, Nigeria’s former president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As we mark this milestone, let us reflect on the journey and the significant moments that have shaped our nation.
Two years ago, on Sunday, February 20, 2022, Asiwaju Tinubu paid a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, at his palace in Afin Oyo. During this visit, Asiwaju expressed his aspiration to become the President of Nigeria and sought the blessings and prayers of Kabiyesi.
In response, Alaafin assured Asiwaju of his support, stating that his desire would be realized in 2023. This exchange, filled with emotion and hope, resonated deeply with the Yoruba people and symbolized a significant moment in our nation’s history.
On September 13th, during a royal celebration, Alaafin passed a message urging all Yoruba sons and daughters, including Mr. President, to remember their promises. As the Royal Princess Adejoju Adeyemi, I echo this sentiment and urge everyone to honor their commitments, just as my late father wished.
Before the 2023 elections, Asiwaju Tinubu visited Alaafin once again, sharing his aspirations and seeking guidance. This interaction exemplified the longstanding relationship between our leaders and the importance of unity in our quest for progress.
As we celebrate Asiwaju Tinubu’s 72nd birthday today, we recognize his contributions to our nation and congratulate him on his achievements. May his days be long and filled with prosperity.
