The Group’s spokesperson, Comrade Abdulhameed Enaji, told journalists in Abuja that the oil and gas sector has greatly improved under their watch, including pipeline security and pollution reduction.
“We note with deep concern the ongoing campaign by sponsored groups of people posing as members of fictitious Northern Nigerian Youth groups calling for the removal of Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive of NNPCL,” he stated.
We are nevertheless pleased that the majority of astute Nigerians, as well as the Federal Government, appear to disregard the demonstration because it was organised by people who only cared about furthering their own narrow interests and not that of Nigerians as a whole.
“By this time, everyone—aside from ardent critics—must be aware that NNPCL, led by Mele Kyari, has accomplished a great deal in the oil industry. These accomplishments have benefited Nigerians and advanced the country’s economy.
“Reducing environmental pollution is a significant accomplishment. The NNPCL has put in place strategic measures to guarantee the protection and preservation of the environment. As a result, pollution levels have significantly decreased, making Nigerians’ environment safer.
“The development of jobs by Tantita, a NNPCL subsidiary, has contributed to a decrease in militant attacks on pipelines and enhanced oil installation security in Nigeria.
“NNPCL has demonstrated excellent performance and service delivery in the oil sector under Mele Kyari’s leadership, and the company is dedicated to continuously preserving the environment and offering Nigerians high-quality service.
“We would like to clarify unequivocally that this so-called demonstration is the brainchild of people who are just concerned with furthering their personal interests and not the interests of Nigerians. We disapprove of these people as a whole, and we urge all Nigerians to ignore their demand that Mele Kyari be fired.
“As patriotic Nigerians, we also applaud NNPCL’s exceptional leadership and urge him to keep up the good work in promoting the expansion and development of the country’s petroleum sector.
“We urge Nigerians to uphold their vigilance and to reject any effort by self-centered individuals to advance their own agendas under the guise of civil society.”
