The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to eliminate bandits abducting and killing travellers on Nigerian roads if he become the president in the February election.
Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting of Muslim Leaders from North-west, held in Kano on Tuesday, Tinubu said if he wins the election, his government would not tolerate insecurity.
According to him, if he wins the election, he would secure Nigerian roads against banditry and other miscreants, which he described as “gansgaters”.
The former Lagos State Governor said apart from checking banditry, his government would also rehabilitate Nigerian roads for safety of Nigerian travellers.
“My government would give maximum priority to security of our country. We will not tolerste gangsters on our roads. Apart from that, we would guide and improve the roads for our safety,” said Tinubu.
The presidential candidate also promised to increase the number of security personnel in the country, promising to provide needed equipment in a bid to secure the country from all front.
Tinubu also pledged to fight corruption and poverty simultaneously, through provision of job opportunities.
“We would create robust import and export policies to creat jobs, aimed at reducing poverty,” he said.
Tinubu also called on the Muslim leaders to vote wisely for him, promising to be fair and just leader who would carry all the sections of the country along.
Earlier in a remark, the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar, refuted the insinuations that Tinubu would be a “Southern President” if wins the election, saying, “Bola Tinubu activities clearly shows he is not a betrayer”.
Abubakar, said, “Tinubu’s political pedigree clearly vendicates him as none ethnic and religious bigot”.
The Governor, added that today everything Tinubu is doing on his presidential campaign was done actively with the full participation of both himself, Ganduje and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Speaking, one of the Islamic clerics, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara, represented by one Yahya Imam, told Tinubu that they are supporting him because he is a Muslim.
According to Imam, Islamic clerics are not supporting Tinubu for money but by being a Muslim and breaking the jinx of Muslim-Christian ticket.
