Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday dismissed the opinion poll released by Thisday newspapers as “deliberate bias that isn’t a reflection of reality on ground.
Mr. Kashim Shettima who spoke in Kano explained that “We are completely indifferent to the projection of some charlatans who know next to nothing about political geography of Nigeria”.
Thisday poll published on Tuesday had ranked the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ahead of Senator Kashim Shettima’s principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next February poll in Nigeria.
Shettima said the projection was a “deliberately bias designed by the organization to discredit Tinubu”, as he maintained that “APC is fully grounded with the reality of Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.”
The former Governor of Borno State, further explained that “We know the reality on ground and by the God grace, we are going to win next year’s election.”
The result of the poll that was published the newspaper on Tuesday revealed that Atiku was projected to secure 25 per cent total votes in 23 states while Tinubu who was placed next is projected to get 25 per cent votes in 20 states across the country.
The Labour Party presidential candidate and that of New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were however ranked third and fourth respectively in the projection.
Shettima posited that ” It is incontestable that Asiwaju is the front runner in this contest, and for other contestants, their political arithmetic cannot add up and for Thisday and other organizations projections, they are simply entitled to their own opinions. ”
He further said: “Elections are not conducted on twitter, Facebook or Instagram platforms but in the nooks and crannies of Nigeria and urban centers of the country. So we are not bordered because we have faith with destiny and we are sure we are going to win the election by the grace of God”.
Asiwaju running mate who was in Kano on a private visit paid on the spot assessment on the multi-billion naira Kano state Cancer treatment center, where he applauded the ingenuity of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for project he believed would reduce billion of naira being spent on cancer treatment abroad.
This is a game changer. Nigeria is the third largest medical tourism in the world. With this edifice, multifunctional and one stock centre for treatment of cancer, I believe Governor Ganduje has rendered a greatest service to the people of Kano and Nigeria. Kano will soon be a tourist attraction for cancer treatment.
The APC vice presidential candidate also paid courtesy visit to the private residents of Kano business mogul Alh. Aminu Alhassan Dantata, Kano foremost political elites Alh. Tanko Yakasai and Alh. Musa Gwadebe as well as that of former military Governor of Kaduna state, General Jafaru Isa (rtd).
