Schools In Bayelsa Closes Down Due To The Ongoing Nationwide Strike.

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Bayelsa State did not go to work on Tuesday in compliance with the two-day nationwide warning strike called by the NLC’s national headquarters. Read Full Article 

Despite not participating in the nationwide strike in the early morning hours, Trade Union Congress employees in the state eventually left their workplaces to head home.

Public institutions were reportedly closed, but private schools were open all around Yenagoa.

Partial compliance was also observed in the banking sector, where certain businesses welcomed customers.

The state NLC leadership had issued a statement in compliance with the national direction of the congress announcing that a two-day warning strike would start on Tuesday “to press home its demands to the Federal Government.”

In a statement, NLC chairman Barnabas Simon and secretary John Angese asked all staff to follow their request and take Tuesday and Wednesday off.
