On Wednesday, hours after declaring they had ousted the government, the coup leaders in Gabon said that President Ali Bongo Ondimba was placed under house arrest and that one of his sons had been detained for “treason.”
When they proclaimed that they were “putting an end to the current regime,” the military chiefs made this statement on national television.
In a statement given out on national TV, they stated, “President Ali Bongo is under house arrest, surrounded by his family and doctors.”
