BUK promotes 772 academic, non-academic workers

The Governing Council of the Bayero University, Kano, BUK, has approved the promotion of 772 academic and non-academic staff of the institution.
The university spokesman, Lamara Garba, made the disclosure in a statement on Friday in Kano.
“The University Governing Council approved the submission by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu-Abbas, in respect of the 2021 promotion exercise,” Mr Garba, who is promoted to the rank of deputy registrar, said.
He said that seven people were promoted to the rank of Professors, 18 Associate Professors, while 747 non-academic staff were promoted to various ranks.
“Out of the 747 non-academic staff, three were promoted to the rank of Deputy Registrar
“They are the Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Mustapha Aminu; University’s Information and Publicity Secretary, Lamara Garba; and Halima Zubairu of the registry’s office,” Mr Garba said.
He said that the promotion of the Professors and Associate Professors took effect from October 1, 2020, while that of the non-academic staff is from October 1, 2021.
The spokesman quoted the VC as urging the newly-promoted staff to justify their promotions by being hardworking and showing more dedication to their duty.
