2023 : Beware of politicians who use you to amass wealth, Rep advises Nigerians

Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, deputy chief whip of the house of representatives, says Nigerians should be wary of politicians who are seeking power to amass wealth.
Onyejeocha said this in Abuja on Monday night when she received an award from Woman Africa International (WAI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
The lawmaker was recognised for supporting women and humanitarian services.
While you pray, you must be conscious of the people you vote to represent you,” she said.
“You must make a choice between people who seek power just to amass wealth for themselves and those who will represent your interests in government.”
The lawmaker, who expressed gratitude for the award, also told her audience not to give up on the country.
“I don’t know how you found me but one thing I will say is that you should continue with your good works,” she said.
“I thank you for this award and I want to say God bless you all gathered here to celebrate women who have been outstanding in their various capacities.
Continue to pray for the country. Do not give up on the country. Pray for our leaders that God should touch their hearts to serve you better.”
On her part, Ijeoma Emeribe, a cleric and founder of WAI, said Onyejeocha was given the award in recognition of her pursuit for good governance.
“The ‘Prayer Conference/Merit Award’ agreed to be conferred on you is in recognition of your humanitarian services through effective representation, pursuit for good governance, equal representation, and more importantly for your commitment to the course of Christendom,” Emeribe said.
